An Intimate Backyard Wedding in Hartland, WI

July 18th was an especially hot summer day, so how fitting that Jodi and Christopher celebrated their marriage by the pool in the backyard of their beautiful new home! The two were wed back in May 2020 when they eloped in Sedona, AZ and managed to keep that a big secret for two whole months! Right after their backyard "ceremony" wrapped up, they shared the big news with their family and friends, and I was able to capture their guests' reactions of shock and joy! It was such a fun surprise to witness and capture! Jodi was a beautiful and radiant bride, and the sweet love her and Christopher share shines bright in these candids and portraits. After the ceremony, we did not do as extensive of a bride and groom portrait session as I normally would since the two already got some EPIC wedding portraits in Sedona's gorgeous landscapes (a slideshow of these played on the TV in their gazebo), but I still captured a few for them to remember this special day. The main priority, of course, was wedding day portraits with all of their family and friends!

Here comes the bride!

And here come the boys!

Here come the reactions to the big announcement...they've already been married 2 months!

A special shoutout goes to Olive - the most well-behaved "flower girl" ever, and she even smiled for every portrait!

Jodi - such a beautiful bride!

Party time!!

Saz's Catering is always a win! A Mac Bar and Carvery Station!

Check out this awesome succulent cheesecake from Simma's! Totally fits their Arizona desert vibe! I couldn't get enough detail shots of it - obsessed!!

I loved their Guest Book idea - guests signed a bottle of wine Jodi and Christopher will enjoy on their one-year anniversary!

Custom hand sanitizers for guests - a cute and functional idea!

Thank you, Jodi and Christopher, for choosing me to document such a special day of your lives! I wish you two a lifetime of love and happiness! Small, intimate weddings have become one of my favorite things to photograph lately, with the relaxed pace of the day giving the bride and groom plenty of time to enjoy genuine moments with their guests and not feel rushed! Having a smaller guest list has allowed many of my couples to focus more on the little things and I have loved capturing every little bit of it. If you're planning an intimate wedding or adventurous elopement (maybe even both!) please reach out to me - I'd love to create some magic with you!
